Collect (Extraordinary Form): Deus, qui in Fílii tui humilitáte jacéntem mundum erexísti, fidélibus tuis perpétuam concéde lætítiam; ut, quos perpétutæ mortis eripuísti cásibus, gáudiis fácias pérfrui sempitérnis.
O God, who, by the humility of Thy Son, didst lift up a fallen world, grant unending happiness to Thy faithful: that those whom Thou hast snatched from the perils of endless death, Thou mayest cause to rejoice in everlasting joys.
So last Sunday, I finally got to an Extraordinary Form Mass for the first time in 5 weeks. It has been way too long lol. This is how Mass should be. The Ordinary Form should appear as close as a possible to the Extraordinary Form so as to show the liturgical heritage we as Romans have.
The Epistle and the Gospel both reflected on this important phrase: I am the good shepherd. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. We are his sheep. The good shepherd gives his life for his sheep, just as Jesus gave us life for us. We were astray, and now he has come to save us from the wolves. Let us now find the other lost sheep, and bring them to the fold by being a witness of the love the Good Shepherd has for us.
Let us pray for our fellow brethren, the lost brethren, and our brethren who for one reason or another, do not know of our Savior. And let us also pray for our shepherds.
